Hudsonville Vision Care has served West Michigan as a family practice from our location in Hudsonville since 1985. Dr. Walt, Dr. Gammage, and Dr. Wustman have experience treating patients of all ages. From infants to seniors, they perform thorough eye exams to evaluate the health of each patient's eyes and to determine the best course of action.
If you need glasses, you can select from over 900 frames suitable for children and adults. Our trained technicians will help you select a frame that looks good, feels good, and works well with your prescription. If you prefer contacts, we provide access to leading-edge contact lens technology. We have an extensive stock of contact lenses and many times have the ability to allow you to wear a trial pair home.

Dr. Paul Gammage
O.D.

Dr. Gammage began his undergraduate work at Taylor University and graduated in 1989 from the Ohio State University college of Optometry. After practicing in Ohio for a few months, he joined Hudsonville Vision Care in November of 1989.
In addition to general optometry, contact lenses, diseases, and laser surgery co-management, Dr. Gammage specializes in learning-related vision disorders and vision therapy.
He is board certified in vision development and therapy and has completed a fellowship in vision development and therapy in 2004 through the College of Optometrists in Visual Development.
Dr. Gammage is a member of the West Michigan Optometric Association, Michigan Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association.

Dr. Stacey Wustman
O.D.
Dr. Stacey Wustman, O.D. was born and raised in Hudsonville, Michigan. She attended Hudsonville High School, graduating in 2010. After high school, she pursued a bachelors degree in Biology at Ferris State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, Stacey began her graduate level training at the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University. She received her Doctorate of Optometry in 2017 with The Highest Distinction and was the salutatorian of her graduating class.
Upon graduation, Dr. Wustman married her husband Josh, also of Hudsonville. Her and Josh currently live in Jenison. They are members at Trinity Church PCA in Hudsonville. Stacey enjoys time spent with family and friends, being outdoors, and being active.
Dr. Wustman started with Hudsonville Vision Care in July of 2017 and practices primary care optometry. She has a special passion for contact lenses, including contact lenses for complex corneas. She also especially enjoys pediatric exams and the energy and fun challenges that young children bring to the exam room.
Dr. Wustman is a member of the West Michigan Optometric Association, Michigan Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association.
Dr. Hammond
Dr. Hammond received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Michigan College of Optometry and joined Hudsonville Vision Care in 2024. He practices primary care optometry for adult and pediatric patients, including contact lens fitting and management of various eye conditions.
He and his wife, Chrissa, an elementary school teacher at West Ottawa Public Schools, both grew up in West Michigan and live in Holland. Dr. Hammond is excited to provide care for a community that means so much to him.
Dr. Claire Michel
Dr. Claire Michel is originally from Royal Oak, Michigan, and graduated from Michigan State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology along with a Minor in Spanish. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University in 2022. Dr. Michel completed her clinical externships at the John D. Dingell VA Medical center in Detroit, MI, and at Bowersox Vision Center in Louisville, KY. These externships deepened her passion for vision development and therapy for pediatric patients and vision rehabilitation of concussion patients. Following graduation, she moved to southern California to be the inaugural brain injury rehabilitation and vision therapy resident at Western University of Health Sciences. She enjoyed working with a variety of patients, educating and mentoring optometry students and treating traumatic brain injury patients at the local rehabilitation hospital, Casa Colina.
Dr. Claire enjoys furthering her education and working interprofessionally with others. She is currently the President of the West Michigan Optometric Association (WMOA), a regional component of the Michigan Optometric Association (MOA). In 2024, she earned her Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) and is currently working towards her Fellowship in Optometric Vision Development and Rehabilitation Association (OVDRA).
Dr. Michel enjoys spending time with her husband, Caleb, as they raise their son, Beckett. She is an advocate for Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) and enjoys raising awareness ever since her son was born. Beckett is almost 2 years old now, healthy and thriving! She is also passionate about providing eye care through mission trips to Sonora, Mexico through Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH). In her free time, she enjoys being outside, scrapbooking, card making, crocheting and cooking.
